Good morning: The final round of the Southern Alberta Amateur is on course and should wrap up around 3 p.m. this afternoon.
It is hard to believe but as we keep checking off days and weekends and events run, our season is starting to wrap up. We’ve got the ladies open scramble next Saturday and then the following weekend will be the annual Hal Brown two-man team event.
In years passed, this event has been a net event from the white tees. We have had great feedback on the change we made to the club championship by opening up play to those that are more comfortable playing the red and gold tees. It only makes sense to me that we do the same for the Hal Brown. My mandate is to give everyone more reasons to be here than not to be here so I encourage you to grab a partner and get yourselves registered for the tourny. It is kind of our last kick at it so I hope to see a great field. If you have any questions please call the golf shop and we’ll get you looked after.
I want to take this time to thank a number of people including yourselves. I understand the emotions involved with the change the club went through last year. Golf is personal game and members take their game and this club very seriously which is a good thing. I appreciate the opportunity I have been given and the positive support I have received from you all. I also appreciate that by and large, everyone seems comfortable to give me thoughts and ideas to try and improve the experience we provide here. I am a thousand miles from perfect and I’ve got lots to learn but I'm really happy about the first year.
With that said, I wouldn't have stood a chance in my first year if I didn't have the existing team around me. To Dave W, Lynn, Lori, Tammy, Cam and all their teams I can’t thank you enough for not only looking after your areas but taking great pride in representing this club to everyone who has "walked down the path" this season. We've still got some work to do but none of it is possible without all of you.
Enjoy the rest of your long weekend and I’ll see you on the tee very soon I'm sure.
