Hello again: June is racing up on us and the weather continues to be great. I just wanted to give you all a quick heads up about this week. We are hosting the annual Heart and Stroke Foundation tournament tomorrow afternoon. As such, the kitchen will close at 6 p.m. to give Lori and her crew the time and space to churn out their magic for the tournament players.
On Friday, we will again be doing a morning shotgun for member play to facilitate the 12 annual Seamus Daley memorial tournament which will be a 1:30 shotgun start as well. I was lucky enough to get to know Seamus in the 2000’s when he played as a member at Picture Butte. His untimely passing in 2005 prompted his friends to start a memorial tournament in his honor. They have since raised over $90,000, over half of which has gone to Kids Sport a local charity doing great work for young people in our community. They are also in the process of setting up a trust that will generate scholarships to the University of Lethbridge beginning next year. Seamus was an amazing young man and this is a great example of his closest friends making the best of a truly unfortunate and sad situation.
The kitchen will close on Friday at 6 p.m.as well so book your fish and chip date early that day.
