Good morning everyone: We’ve seen a great number of you over the opening weekend and I’m sure with our upcoming weather forecast everyone else will come out of hibernation. The washrooms on the East side of the golf course are scheduled to open up today or tomorrow as things continue to warm up. Our Superintendent Dave Wobschall and his crew have done an amazing job between getting the course cleaned up, aerated, sanded, signed, etc while at the same time fine tuning the new pumps in the watering system. He described it perfectly as doing a heart transplant putting brand new pumps into an aging irrigation system. Thusfar it has gone well and we are confident it will make a big difference in terms of efficiency of watering and the reduction of costs to water. Most of you have now seen the gaping hole on number 9 as those trees were at the end of their life cycle and had to be removed. You will see a fencing company on the property starting today to start construction of the fence that will go from the East side of the walking bridge down to where the trees on number 9 start.
The fence will be right along the South edge of the City walking path and will be approximately 9 feet in height with a 2 foot over hang towards the path. This will do our part in keeping the people on the walking path as safe as possible.
The City has been great through the process and understand that they put the walking path in and as such will be paying for the fence through a grant we received last year.
Once the fence is in we are planning to plant ivy-like plants that will eventually cover the fence to take away the “penitentiary” look to it.
The next step will be to thoughtfully reforest the golf course side to replace the trees that were taken out.
Thanks again to everyone throughout the club – we’re trying to get a little better every day. Enjoy your golf.
