Attn: 2017 HLGC Membership

 

As President of Henderson Lake Golf Club, I am solely writing this message in response to a large number of emails and text messages I have received regarding the recent announcement relating to our senior management staff contracts. I am hoping this message will provide you with some clarity as to how various processes work and how decisions are made at HLGC.

 

Before I begin, I will say again that these decisions are not something that the Board took lightly. We deliberated many times at meetings over the past months and after taking into account all information provided, listening to each director’s opinion and thoughts, and taking time to reflect, the board feels that they have made a decision that is in the best interest of the club.

 

From my recent conversations with members of the club, many members do not know how our governance model is organized or works. Below is a picture I have taken of our current governance model that is available to all members at the office.

 

You the members are at the top of this model and elect 10 Board members to make decisions in the best interests of the club. The 10 positions on the board are 1 President, 1 Past President, and 8 Directors. The Past President and 8 Directors all vote on any major decisions and motions put forward by committees. The President at HLGC only votes if a time arises.

 

I have been a member for many years and President for only one. As a member, I too have feelings and opinions about this decision which may or may not be the same as yours. As President and member of your Board, I need to be professional and respectful of the decision the Board has made.

The Board is unable to divulge reasons or any details regarding their decisions and the process due to reasons involving privacy. I encourage anyone to contact me if you have questions but I won’t be able to say much more than what is in this message. If you require further information about HLGC processes, the Articles of Association, Governance model, and Club Policies are available to all members at the HLGC office.

 

Our membership has elected these Board Members. Like any Board, they put in many hours and at times need to make tough decisions. The membership has elected them to represent the club the best they can and this Board feels they have done that. The following list is of the current board members and is also available on the wall across from the office.

I hope this message provides some clarity of how decisions are made at Henderson Lake Golf Club. For those of you who have sent me an email or text message, I will do my best to respond in a timely fashion but do have other commitments during this time.
