Dear HLGC Members,
Before our golf season comes to an end, I wanted to say thanks to all members, volunteers, and staff who pitched in to make the several events hosted at our club this year a success, especially our Centennial Celebration.
Thanks to Michael, and everyone who works in the office, clubhouse, and kitchen for the great food and service you offer our patrons. Thank-you to Dean and your staff for the excellent job do helping run tournaments, excellent programs, and welcoming our members and guests day after day. Dave Wobschall and the maintenance staff deserve a big thank-you for the fantastic job they did maintaining our course through one of the most hot, dry golf seasons we have ever seen. Great work everyone and another huge thank-you to you all!
Taking on the role as President of Henderson Lake Golf Club for 2017 has definitely been a large time commitment and very challenging as there were so many events and tasks that needed to be tackled this year. Hosting the Alberta Sr. Men’s Golf Championship, our Centennial Celebration, the CIP Proposal, and creating a Membership Survey on top of our regular duties and other major tournaments hosted by HLGC made for a busy year. The success of these events can only be attributed to the hard work of the board and other HLGC members who volunteered their time to help complete the long list of tasks for each event.
Despite the many meetings and duties required, I don’t regret taking on this challenge one bit. I’ve learnt a lot from my fellow board members and have a deeper appreciation for the work and time they put in. As with any board, all members don’t see eye to eye on everything, but through our many deliberations at numerous meetings, I can assure you the board looks at every issue from every possible angle before they make a decision that is in the best interest of the club.
Increased numbers in our junior programs along with an increased number of public players is great to see. Various comments from both members and the public about our new website, the green-fee promotions on the course, and promotions we have tried in the clubhouse have been very well received.
As a way to increase communication, I created a “HLGC President” website that tells a little about myself and allows members to contact me by email if they have a concern. The link to this page is hlgcgolf.weebly.com but can also be found by going to our HLGC site and looking under the “Contact Us” tab. Once you have reached my very simple President’s Page, it is here that you are able to view the results of our 2017 Membership Survey by following the link provided on the main page.
It has been an honour acting as your president this season, thanks for making our course such a great place to be, and enjoy the few weeks of this amazing golf season.
Tim Craddock
2017 HLGC President
Updated information for September 27, 2017
has been cancelled due to poor interest. Please phone the pro shop for a ballot entry for September 30 and October 1. Tee times can be booked at this time after 12:00 pm. We are again disappointed that the Open Scramble is not taking place this year, we will try to secure a better date next year!
- this is done under the Course Superintendents direction. When temperatures continually drop during the fall nights to -5 it is a best practice for turf conditions to not use the tee boxes due to recovery of wear and tear.
– The golf course will close on Sunday October 15. The Clubhouse services will close the same day at 5:00 pm. I believe we have had a great season and it is very unfortunate that we close down for the season. We will be covering our greens shortly after and will start construction on forward tees as well. A friendly reminder your Minimum House Charge is only $15 per person for the month of October.
please sign up your attendance with the office or on the available sheet near the Ladies Information Board.
