HLGC - NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS - JUNE 28

The Question of the Week: What happens if my ball off the first tee go into the Maintenance Shed Area?
The maintenance shed has been deemed as a Ground Under Repair (GUR) area. Therefore, your ball is not lost or needs to be found. You can take a drop no closer to the hole. However you must be virtually certain that your ball went into this area. The same analysis can be said about your ball going into the pond, you must be virtually certain that your ball went into the hazard for lateral purposes. Your opponent could be unfriendly at times and conclude neither ball went into the hazard or maintenance area and would insist you lost your ball and must go back to the tee. During the Alberta Men’s Seniors we will be playing the Maintenance Area as an out of bounds area and the Club will make a decision after the event on possibly keeping this rule for the immediate future.

Other News

Due to Rogers and Bell who own Sportsnet and TSN and the extraordinary fees that they are implementing on our cable providers, the Club will no longer provide these channels for the upcoming month or months ahead. We will continue to provide the Golf Channel and other network channels. The Club just doesn’t see the reasoning Rogers and Bell charging liquor establishments the exorbitant extra fees.

The grounds crew will be emptying our ponds this week for aquatic weed control. So please do not be alarmed this weekend there is not a leak or a hole in our ponds. We will fill them before the Centennial Event and should be well showcase for the Alberta Seniors. The crew will also be working on some of our bunkers or sand traps this week. The Course is looking and playing very good again and if you have any concerns please send an email to me at hlgcgolf@gmail.com and we will reply.

Accounts in Arrears or 60+ day. Club policy calls for suspension of playing privileges for all members whose account is in excess of 60 days past due. The club welcomes your participation to clear up your account immediately. We hope to save all our members any embarrassment and the Club employess. We have recently upgraded our banking solutions and we can accept online payments. Email transfer is no cost and very easy to implement and saves you from having to come to the office to make payment. Our email is hlgcgolf@gmail.com and please use the password, Henderson. The Club would also point out that you can make payments at the Bar and Pro shop point of sale therefore there is no real reason to be in arrears and save ourselves from any embarrassment situations.

The committee is very pleased with the sold out golf portion of our Centennial Celebration.  If you are not signed up for the golf portion you can leave your name on a waiting list in the pro shop. We will open the tee sheet after the event at possibly 4:00 pm for those that did not sign up or missed out. The Committee also reviewed all that was previously discussed and it was concluded that if the golf participants would like to invite someone to the Wine and Cheese / Appy’s portion please inform the office as soon as possible your intentions. The cost for your spouse or guest will only be $15. However, again we recognize that this event cannot accommodate all the demand so it will be a first come first reserved at this time.
