ANNUAL FALL PLUMBING TIPS
Avoid Service Issues
As the weather gets colder and the risk of frost at night, here are some of the plumbing tips that can save you money in the long run.
- Turn off the water valve inside the house that connects to the outside hose bibs and then drain the pipes.
- Disconnect all outside water hoses.
- Make sure all the outside faucets are free of leaks and drips.
- Insulate pipes that are in crawl spaces and in unheated garage’s so that the pipes don’t freeze.
Fall Services
Water Heaters:
Whether you have a tank or an on demand water heater, it is important to get them serviced. With the tank water heaters, sediment can build up at the bottom of the tank, it is a good idea to partially drain the tank to remove this sediment. If you have an on demand water heater, build up from hard water can build up over time, yearly maintenance will improve the life and the warranty of your water heater.
Drain Clean:
Getting an annual drain clean of the main sewer line of your home gets rid of build up that can develop over time and tree roots that find their way into the pipes.
