Important Maintenance Tips

With the changing of the seasons, we tend to get busy with kids going back to school and all the extracurricular activities starting up again. Jake Klassen’s experienced team of plumbers would like to share their favorite tips that will help you increase the life of your mechanical assets.

• Turn off the water valve inside the house that connects to the outside hose bibs and then drain the pipes.
• Disconnect all outside water hoses.
• Make sure all the outside faucets are free of leaks and drips.
• Check your sump pump to make sure it is working, so that it doesn’t freeze in the winter.
• Insulate pipes that are in crawl spaces and in unheated garage’s so that the pipes don’t freeze.

Clear Drains
If you notice you have some slow drains, Jake Klassen Plumbing Inc. has a snake and a camera that can help understand what the issue is. A yearly snake of the main line in older neighborhoods gets rid of tree roots that can create blockages of the sewer pipes.

Flush Your Tanks
We also provide a service call to flush your hot water tank. This process ensures there will not be any debris getting in the way of your hot water flow. Getting into this habit will extend the life of your tank and help save you some valuable dollars.
